Farmers Market on The Alameda Pledges $2,000 to Local Schools

What: The Farmers Market on The Alameda is working with local schools to raise money for their respective parent organizations. The Farmers Market is providing each local school with school specific coupons. One coupon can be turned in during each family's Saturday morning visit to the market all summer long. At summer's end, $2,000 will be awarded to schools in proportion to the number of visits their families make to the Farmers Market on The Alameda.

When: Saturday Mornings, May 26 through September 29 (8:30AM to12:30PM)

Where: The Alameda and Hanchett Avenue (1345 The Alameda, San Jose)

Who: Sponsored by the Alameda Business Association (ABA) and the Shasta Hanchett Park Neighborhood Association (SHPNA) in cooperation with and for the benefit of local schools serving neighborhoods near The Alameda including:

Why: We want to encourage families to choose the freshest produce (usually picked within hours of delivery to the market) and buy directly from our Farmers. The greater the number of families that come to the market, the greater the reward will be to their own school. Families will also find a jumphouse for the kids, entertainment, artisans and craftspeople. In addition, on the last Saturday morning of each month, the Farmers Market serves as the venue for the Festivals on The Alameda including:

May 26: History on The Alameda
June 30: Fiesta on The Alameda
July 28: Drums on The Alameda
August 25: Guitar on The Alameda
September 29: Dance on The Alameda
